5 Best Sex Machine Positions: How to Find What Works for You

So, you've got a sex machine, or maybe you're thinking about buying one, but where's the best place to actually use it? On the bed? At the side of it? Sitting down? There's quite a few different ways to position a sex machine, and you might be surprised at how much difference a small change can make.

The good thing is you don't need lots of space or a fancy bedroom setup. It's more about finding somewhere you're comfortable and getting your machine in the right position.

We've picked five sex machine positions worth trying, whether you're completely new to them or you've had one for a while and fancy a change.

1. Lying on Your Back – Keep It Simple

If you're using a sex machine for the first time, lying on your back is probably one of the easiest ways to start. You can get comfortable on your bed, put a pillow under your head and let the machine do the work. There's no awkward balancing or trying to hold yourself in the same position for ages. You can just lie back and relax.

You'll need to make sure your machine's at the right height, especially if you've got quite a high bed. It's worth spending a minute getting everything lined up before switching it on.

If you want a strong full-size machine for this kind of setup, the Thumpr® A3 PRO is a good option because it has a longer adjustable stroke and a solid frame.

2. Lying on Your Side – Get Comfortable

If you don’t like lying flat on your back for a long time, it might be a good idea to try lying on your side. You can curl up slightly, use a pillow for support and find a position that feels comfortable without having to move around too much.

You'll need to think about whether your machine can be adjusted to the right angle. Some machines have more adjustment options than others, so it's worth checking what yours can do. Once you've found a setup that works, it's a nice alternative to the usual lying on your back position.

This is where machines like the Thumpr® A6 COMPACT or Thumpr® A7 COMPACT can be useful, as the adjustable angle makes it easier to line the machine up without having to move yourself around too much.

3. At the Edge of the Bed – Give Yourself More Room

If you've got a larger machine or just want a bit more room around you, this might be a good choice for you. Instead of having the machine right up against the side of your bed, you can position yourself comfortably near the edge and have the machine standing securely on the floor. That gives you a bit more freedom to get the height and distance right without furniture getting in the way.

You might find this setup works better in your bedroom, particularly if you haven't got lots of floor space.

Just make sure you're properly supported and the machine's stable before you start.

It's often the little adjustments that make all the difference.

A stable machine like the Thumpr® A3 PRO can work well at the edge of the bed, especially if you want more room around you and a longer adjustable stroke.

4. Supported Kneeling – Try a Different Angle

Fancy trying something a bit different? A supported kneeling position gives you another option, especially if your machine has adjustable height or angle settings.

You could use the bed for support rather than trying to hold yourself in an uncomfortable position. You don't need to be super flexible either. The whole point is to find something that works for you, not to turn yourself into a gymnast!

For this kind of position, angle adjustment can make a big difference. The Thumpr® A8 PRO MAX is a great choice for kneeling positions thanks to its low, stable design and adjustable speed and stroke. The A6 COMPACT and A7 COMPACT are also good choices, as their adjustable angles make it easier to line the machine up comfortably. The Thumpr® A4 PRO gives you more height and angle control if you want a bigger machine.

It's worth remembering that machines aren't all built the same, so some will be easier to position this way than others.

5. Sitting Down – Why Not?

You might not immediately think of sitting down when using a sex machine, but depending on your machine and the furniture you've got, it could be another option.

The main thing is getting the height right. If your seat's too high or too low, you'll probably find it difficult to get everything lined up properly.

You'll also want a sturdy seat and enough space for the machine to move freely without hitting anything.

A compact machine with angle adjustment, like the Thumpr® A6 COMPACT or Thumpr® A7 COMPACT, may be easier to position for seated use than a larger machine, depending on the chair, height and space you have.

Does It Matter Which Sex Machine You've Got?

Yes, It can do. Some sex machines are bigger, some are more compact, and others have different ways of adjusting the height, angle or stroke length. So a position that works really well with one machine might not be quite as easy with another.

If you've got a small bedroom, you might find a compact machine easier to move around and position. The Thumpr® A5 COMPACT is a good option if you want something smaller but still powerful.

If you want more angle control, the Thumpr® A6 COMPACT and Thumpr® A7 COMPACT both give you 360° adjustment, which can make different positions easier to set up.

If you want a bigger full-size machine with a longer stroke, the Thumpr® A3 PRO gives you a 3–15cm adjustable stroke and a strong, stable frame.

For more height and angle adjustment, the Thumpr® A4 PRO is worth looking at, while the Thumpr® A8 PRO MAX is the heavy-duty option if you want something more advanced. Then there’s the Thumpr Rocker, which is different again because it’s not motorised. You rock it yourself, giving a smooth back-and-forth motion rather than automatic thrusting.

A Few Things Worth Remembering

Whichever position you decide to try, there's a few things that'll help you get more out of your machine. Firstly, don't rush. Start on a low speed and get used to how everything feels before turning things up.

Make sure your machine's secure and isn't going to move around. And if you need to change the angle, height or position, switch it off first.

It's also a good idea to have a few pillows nearby. They can make a big difference when you're trying to get comfortable.

Keep your attachments clean, follow your machine's instructions and if something doesn't feel right, stop and make an adjustment.

You don't need to get everything perfect on your first go. Once you've used your machine a few times, you'll soon work out what suits you best.

What's the Best Sex Machine Position for Beginners?

If you're completely new to sex machines, we'd probably suggest starting by lying on your back, as long as your machine can be positioned safely.

It's an easy way to get familiar with the controls and see how the machine works without having to think about too much else.

Once you've got the hang of it, you can start experimenting with other positions.

And if you've only just bought your first machine, or you're still deciding which one to get, have a read of our How to Use a Sex Machine: A Simple Beginner's Guide. It covers the basics of getting started and using your machine.

Finding What Works for You

There isn’t one position that works best for everyone. You might prefer using your machine on the bed, at the edge of it, or even sitting down. Sometimes the position you think won’t work ends up being the one that feels best.

That’s the good thing about a sex machine. You can move things around, try different angles and work out what suits you, instead of doing it the same way every time.

If you’re still deciding which machine suits you best, take a look at our full range of Thumpr sex machines. There’s plenty to choose from, whether you want something compact, something more adjustable, or a machine with a longer stroke.
